BANK WINDHOEK SWAMPS THE COAST WITH FESTIVITIES

Bank Windhoek is proud to again host the annual Summer Festival this holiday season for visitors to the coast. The Bank Windhoek Summer Festival is set to take place from Friday, 7 until Saturday, 22 December 2018. As sponsor, the Bank has lined up entertainment and activities for every holiday maker who plans on celebrating the festive season at the coast. Below are the listed events with venues and dates to look forward to:

Swakopmunder Musikwoche:

The 2018 Bank Windhoek Swakopmunder Musikwoche, which will take place from Friday, 7 to Saturday, 15 December 2018 in Swakopmund, will be the curtain raiser for the Bank Windhoek Summer Festival. The annual music event, presented at various locations in the coastal town, will be hosted under the patronage of the German Evangelic Lutheran Church’s Swakopmund community.

Music professionals from both national and international institutions have been invited to instruct and assist young and old Namibian musicians. The event lasts a total of ten days and includes a series of concerts offered to the public. Concerts tickets can be obtained at Namib High School between 09:00 and 12:00 on a daily basis for the duration of the event.

Below are the scheduled concerts dates:

  • Friday, 7 and Saturday, 8 December – Registration and the official opening.
  • Sunday, 9 December at 10:00 – Musical accompaniment of church service by lecturers at Lutheran Church, 9 Otavi Street, Swakopmund.
  • Tuesday, 11 December at 19:00 – Lecturer Concert at the Hanjo Böhlke Aula, Namib High School.
  • Wednesday, 12 December at 16:00 – Open Air Brass Concert at the Swakopmund Amphitheatre.
  • Thursday, 13 December at 18:30 – Youth and Ensemble Concert at the Hanjo Böhlke Aula, Namib High School.
  • Friday, 14 December at 19:00 – Final Concert at the Hanjo Böhlke Aula, Namib High School.
  • Saturday, 15 December at 19:00 – Final Concert at the Hanjo Böhlke Aula, Namib High School.

Swakopmund Coastal Senior Open Golf Day:

The annual Coastal Senior Open Golf tournament, will take place at the Rossmund Golf Course on Thursday, 13 and Friday, 14 December 2018. Although the event involves the play-offs between the coastal and the central seniors, individual entrants are also welcome to participate. Bank Windhoek Swakopmund Tennis Open:

The Namibia Tennis Association in collaboration with Bank Windhoek, will host the Bank Windhoek Open in Swakopmund from Friday, 14 until Sunday, 16 December 2018. The event is taking place at the Swakopmund Tennis Club courts at The Mole. Matches will be played over three days. Players will compete in Men and Women Singles and Doubles events during the tournament.

Players 14 years and older are invited to enter. Entries close on Friday, 7 December 2018. Single athletes will pay an entry fee of N$300 while players in the Doubles will be required to pay N$150 per athlete. For more information, contact Clive Gawanab at E-mail: gawanabac@gmail.com.

Holiday Camp for children:

Teambuild Namibia and Bank Windhoek have joined hands to host a Holiday Camp for children in Swakopmund from Monday, 17 to Friday, 21 December 2018. The week-long gathering is scheduled to take place at various venues around Swakopmund.

Amongst others, the participants will learn how to surf, sand board, snorkel, fish as well as studying rock pools and learning essential survival skills. For more information, send an email to Ian Daniel at Ian@teambuildnamibia.com.

Kehat Beukes Memorial Chess Tournament:

Chess enthusiasts can look forward to the Namibia Chess Federation’s Kehat Beukes Memorial Chess tournament taking place in Swakopmund on Saturday, 15 and Sunday, 16 December 2018. The annual tournament, which will be staged at the Swakopmund Municipal Conference Centre, aims to attract international travellers and the best of the local chess players to compete for top honours.

Bank Windhoek Beach Volleyball Bash:

The Bank Windhoek sponsored Beach Volleyball Bash, designed to cater for professional players and young holiday makers, will hype up the coast on Saturday, 22 December 2018 at Long Beach. Teams with a maximum of six players can enter. The entry also allows participants access to the Beach Bash event which takes place at the same venue. A total prize money of N$21 000 is up for grabs. The day-long event is hosted by Namib Rage and Timeout Beach Volleyball Academy. Entry fees starts at N$800 for Pro League or Social League teams.

Henties Bay Open Golf Day:

The annual Henties Bay Open Golf Day will be played over 36 holes and is a highlight for all golf fanatics. The event will take place on Saturday, 22 December 2018 at the Henties Bay Golf Club. For more information, contact Wilna Bredenhann on Cell: 081 240 6269.

Bank Windhoek Namib Tiger Trails Cycling Event:

Bank Windhoek in collaboration with The Lighthouse Group, will host the much anticipated mountain biking event in the lunar landscape on Saturday, 22 December 2018 at Tiger Reef in Swakopmund. The event will see cyclists compete over distances of 25, 40 and 80 kilometres on a circular track. Closing date for entries is Thursday, 20 December 2018.
